Accelerated Learning - the 'why' and the 'how'

Accelerated learning, Brain-based learning, learning to learn - call it what you like. The questions is 'what's in it for me?'

Accelerated learning is simply a combination of ideas, beliefs, techniques and strategies that allow anyone to digest a greater amount of information more rapidly and in such a way that they remember more of it and enjoy the process.

In essence it revolves around knowing the answer to two simple questions: 'how' and 'why'. If you know why you want to learn something and how to learn it then the process is easy.

In fact make the 'why' big enough and the 'how' just falls into place. However, some people have no concept of 'why' because to date the 'how' has completely eluded them.

The 'how' is about three main processes sometimes called the 3Rs, i.e. Being able to register information, retain it, and recall it (hopefully on the day of an exam). This all seems very simple, but all of us have scope to accelerate our learning by addressing one or all of these areas.
