Yesterday I was presenting at the Bedfordshire and Luton Culture and Education Conference. My theme was how creativity and culture can boost your ratings with Ofsted. I talked a lot about Lego and SMCS. Fortunately I was up there with Gill Peck the head of Putnoe Primary school who has transformed the school from being in special measures to one that has twice been judged outstanding. It was a great double act to perform and a really exciting day with so many different cultural providers there.
I was trying to stress that Grade 3 or R.I. (requires improvement) could also stand for 'requires innovation' and that pursuit of the arts could help facilitate that more readily than many other routes.
